1 month old

Easter was great despite the cold weather and snow (yeah, it snowed for a little bit)! Addison did great at church. She didn't make a peep and seemed to have really enjoyed the music. She met lots of her church family members. We then went to Jeremy's aunt's house, briefly to his mom's house and then to his dad's house. Addie met lots of her family and was such a trooper during the long day. We messed up as parents...we left the diaper bag at Jeremy's mom's house!!! Jeremy met his brother halfway to get it. We will never do that again...we hope.

Addison turned one month on Tuesday. We went to the pediatrician for a check-up and she is wonderful! She weighed in at a whopping 10 pounds making her in the 75 percentile! She has grown 2 inches, now measuring 21 inches making her in the 50%. She had to get a shot and she was not pleased. Her temper was flaring, but Jeremy settled her down.

It is so exciting having her around. She is constantly making new sounds and faces everyday. She really is a wonderful baby. She is still only waking up once in the middle of the night (knock on wood), but is still not wanting to go to bed early. We get her down by 10:30 or 11:00, so we can't complain. From the beginning people have said they can't really see who she looks like. We hear both, but lately everyone has been saying Jeremy. They say she has dad's eyes. It's hard to believe that she has been in the world for over a month now!

That's it for now, except...Go Cards! Go Hilltoppers! I was bummed that Butler lost in overtime. It wasn't their best game, but I am still proud.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

The other night Jeremy and I both wanted to get some work done in the house, but Addison wanted to be a part of it all. This is what I had to do. :)

This was the end of the day on Easter and she was worn out. She was done being messed with and didn't want her picture taken.

Addison is one month and is changing everyday.

Look at that belly! We love it!

P.S.

Go Butler Bulldogs!!! Even though they got hosed with their tournament seed, we hope they do well and prove why they are ranked #11 in the country! Also, go Hilltoppers! (Jeremy went to Western KY.)

Out and about

Addison has had lots of outings during the past week and was great for them all! Thursday we went out to dinner for the first time with her with some friends and she never made a peep. Saturday we took her to an event that had several people from my work there so they could meet her. Afterwards we got in the car and drove to Indianapolis. Yep, a road trip. We have friends that are building a house and are using Jeremy as a resource. They had him walk through the house before they had their pre-drywall walk-thru so he could inspect it. Addison and I came along for the ride so she could meet some of my closest friends. She got a little fussy about 30 minutes before we were at their house because it was time to eat, but all in all she was great. We tackled our first road trip!

On Sunday we took Addison to our church youth group to meet some of the high schoolers. Of course she had more visitors throughout the week. On Wednesday we had a ladies lunch with my family. My mom is in town for 2 days and we went out to eat with my aunt, cousin and grandmother. It was fun!

Addison is still a great sleeper (knock on wood)...once she gets to sleep. The past several nights we have tried to put her down earlier since that will be the case (we hope) once I go back to work. Apparently she is a night baby and I know she inherited that from me. Bummer! Apparently I was the same way when I was a baby. Once she goes down she stays asleep for almost 5 hours. She then eats and then usually goes right back to bed and sleeps for another 4 hours or so. Now it just mastering the earlier bed time. We shall see.

We can tell she is getting bigger. Every day it seems like she is making a new sound. Too cute!

This weekend is a big weekend. Addie will be making her big debut at church and she will get to meet lots of family members on Jeremy's side she hasn't met yet for Easter. I'm sure we will have lots of pictures! I know she is excited! :)

Happy Easter! (It doesn't quite feel like Easter when it is 40 degrees. Oh well, it is still a wonderful holiday!)

Her hair looks really red here, but it is brown. The camera does funny things sometimes.

This is our view at the dinner table. Sadie begging and Addie checking out Sadie. Ha!

Jeremy and his dad playing guitar hero during one of his visits. :)

Hanging out in her crib

Lately she has been falling asleep like this...arms crossed and chin on her hands. Too cute!

Ladies lunch! My mom, grandmother, cousin and aunt. Addison slept the entire time, oh, the life!

Chunky Monkey

Last week Jeremy's mom came over for two days to help out. On Thursday I could start driving so Betty stayed home with Addison while I ran some errands. It felt so good to get out!!!

This past weekend we got 10 inches of snow! Louisville hasn't had a good size snow in a long time. Sadie loves to play in the snow and there are pictures below to prove it. I was having some cabin fever so Leigh and Chad brought over Guitar Hero on Saturday night. I have a picture of our fun below. We also had more visitors this weekend and during the week.

Addison's cord fell off and we started giving her a bath in her baby bath tub. She likes this much better. I think it keeps her warm. Not so many screams.

On Monday I took Addison to the pediatrician for a weight check. She needed to be at her birth weight. She was well above it. She weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz.!!! She gained 11 oz. in a week. That's a lot. The nurse said they want 1/2 ounce to an ounce a day. Addie's legs are filling out with more to squeeze! What a chunk! :)

Yesterday I took her to get pictures taken. My, what an experience! This was my first real trip out with her. I thought I planned ahead and was all prepared, but I have learned like every other mother that nothing goes as planned. Nursing is hard to do in some places. She was very hungry during her session. Luckily I had a pacifier with me (we just started giving her one on Monday) so we would get her positioned, yank the pacifier out of her mouth, take the picture and put it right back in. It was pretty funny. She was not impressed. At least she cooperated in the morning and I was able to get a shower and get ready!

Hopefully Jeremy and I will get a chance to go out together next week without Addison. It will be her first time with a bottle. No matter what we do we will enjoy it!

Love to you all! Addison knows how much she is loved! :)

Sadie loves to sleep in the nursery

Sadie loves the snow!

Playing fetch with Jeremy...snowballs are hard to fetch! :)

After another bath

Brooke gave her this outfit. It was very cozy in the snowy weather.

She has bunny slippers on.

Pretty cute, huh?

A fun Saturday night for new parents! :) We are both pretty focused.

The first week

Sorry it has taken so long to put another update on here. Things are pretty busy around here, as you can imagine. I thought I would fill you all in regarding the labor and delivery and the first week of little Addison's life.

My contractions started consistently on Saturday evening and we didn't check into the hospital until about 24 hours later. I was exhausted! I was having back labor, so they were very painful. It was 11:30 p.m. once we got settled in and I got my epidural. I was only 1-2 cm. dilated when I arrived, but they kept me there because the baby's heart rate kept dropping to about 50 and then jump right back up. They wanted to monitor her. Jeremy turned as white as ghost during the epidural...quite surprising. The nurse said that I would most likely have the baby in the late morning/early afternoon. We decided to not call Jeremy's parents since it was so late and to just call first thing in the morning so they could get her right after the delivery. Around 1:30 a.m. the nurse came in saying she didn't like what the baby's heart rate was doing and called in the doctor. They broke my water and started an internal monitor. The monitor looked like the cord was wrapped around her neck and warned us we might have a c-section. Of course we couldn't sleep after that. At about 5:15 a.m. the doctor came in and checked me and I was 5 cm. and made me 10 cm. Didn't know she could do that! They said I would pushing within an hour, but to expect to push up to two hours. Jeremy immediately made some phone calls waking a lot of people, I'm sure. I pushed for maybe 40 minutes and little Addison made her debut at 6:48 a.m. The doctor said I was a "demon pusher". I guess that is good thing. :)

When Addison came out she was quiet and looking around, but as soon as they brought her to the warming table she was wailing! The doctor and nurses were laughing about how bad her temper was. Great! The temper comes from her dad (hee hee) and the lungs come from her mom (hee hee). Jeremy and I were surprised by her weight. I was just told the previous Friday that she would probably be 7 to 7.5 pounds. We were also surprised by her head of dark hair. She is beautiful and Jeremy was instantly wrapped around her finger!

After the delivery I started to fill sick to me stomach so they gave me some Finagrin and it knocked me out until about noon. After 48 hours of no sleep I was exhausted! I was also starving! The hospital food didn't cut it and I finally got my Jimmy John's turkey sandwich on Tuesday. (For those you who didn't know, this is the one food I wanted, but couldn't have while I was pregnant. Jeremy knew he was required to get this for me post-delivery!) We had some wonderful nurses and lactation consultants. One nurse I wanted to write a thank-you note to because she was so incredible! We had many friends and family visit. When we were leaving the nurse said, "Bye little Addison. You are too cute, but you sure do have a temper!" On Monday night she got kicked out of the nursery because she wouldn't stop crying. Another nurse said she was one of the most stubborn babies she had ever seen and she had worked there 15 years! Apparently we are going to have our hands full!

Addison has been adjusting pretty well at home. We are still working on nursing...it's tough! She has been very cooperative for all her visitors by sleeping peacefully or being wide awake. She actually has been pretty good with sleeping at night. Some nights are better than others. She'll sleep a long time and then I feed her and she doesn't want to go back to sleep. She is a night baby and gets that from her mom and my mom.

We went to the pediatrician on Monday for a check-up. When we left the hospital she weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. She weighed 8.1 on Monday. We have to go back next week for a weight check to make sure she has gained back all her weight (from her birth weight). Other than that everything looked great and she did very well. It was also my birthday on Monday. Definitely spent the day differently than any other birthday. It was nice to spend time together as a family. That has been my favorite thing so far, we are now a family and it is wonderful!

Thanks again for all the wonderful cards, phone calls, presents, etc. We are overwhelmed with everyone's love for us and our daughter (and yeah, it is weird to say the word "daughter").

In her swing for the first time. She loves it and that helps me out during the day so I can get some things done or rest.

My grandmother meeting her first great-granddaughter.

Her first sponge bath...obviously pretty mad. See the temper! She gets really red, almost purple, when she screams.

My great friend, Laura, meeting Addie. She loves to snuggle!
