No power!

Louisville has experienced an ice storm and now snow. We lost power at 7:30 p.m. The LG&E truck was in our neighborhood so we thought it would be fixed quickly. At the time there were only 2,500 houses without power and this morning the number is up to 75,000. We decided to stay the night at our house because our thermostat still said it was pretty warm. We thought that was a better option than getting Addie out of bed and driving in the bad weather to someone else's house. Jeremy, Sadie and I all slept on the floor of the nursery because it is the warmest room in the house. We left this morning to go Anthony (Jeremy's brother) and Jenny's house. At least now it is pretty with snow. Sadie loves the snow! We didn't have room in the car for Addie's sled, but I hope she can break it in sometime soon.

I'll post pictures soon. Last weekend Jeremy and I had a wonderful weekend skiing with our youth group. I'll post more soon. Until then...stay safe!

We're ready for spring!

I am just now getting caught up on the blog because we have been preoccupied with a sick baby...again!!! I breastfed her for almost 7 months and she is currently in a small daycare so we are surprised she has been this sick. Everyone around us says that the first winter is the worst. Addie began getting sick during the beginning of the week. We called the pediatrician on Wed. and they said not to bring her in because she didn't have a fever. She had a nose running like a faucet, a cough, no appetite and more. It wasn't any better by Saturday morning so I took her to the doctor. She has an upper respiratory infection and double ear infection! Poor thing! She is definitely on the mend now. We feel so bad for her when she is this sick. Addie hasn't been sleeping well because she can hardly breathe. We have been frustrated this winter, but at the same time we realize that there are so many other babies in the world that are in much worse shape so we really can't complain.

Two weekends ago we hung out with Jamie, Derek, Blake, Tracy and their daughter, Alena. Sadie also had a playdate with Jamie and Derek's dog, Benz. Addie is a very social baby and doesn't mind being passed around to anyone. For whatever reason she does not like Jamie. We have gotten together several times over the past couple of months and Addie always ends up crying when Jamie tries holding her. It's very weird!

I had a great week two weeks ago because I got to see "Wicked" for free at my work during business hours (very rare!) and it was amazing! I recommend the show to anyone! I also got a massage over the weekend! Jeremy got me a gift card for our anniversary and I just now got around to using it. Tell me why I waited so long???

This past weekend we got together with our friends (and my boss) Heather and Peter and their daughter, Emma. Emma started at Addie's daycare this week so we are excited that they will play together daily.

Saturday was my mom's birthday so we met my parents for dinner at Huber's. She did great despite not feeling well at all. Addie put two words together and said "Bye baby" while waving when a baby in the restaurant was leaving. It was two cute.

On Sunday I went to a baby shower for Jenny (our sister-in-law). We are so excited to meet our new newphew, Layton. He'll be making his grand entrance into the world at the beginning of March (if not sooner). :)

Addie also now says "hi" and "Sadie". We always thought Sadie would be her first word. It actually sounds like "Dadie" but we know that is what she is trying to say because she'll be crawling towards Sadie saying "Dadie, dadie, dadie." It's amazing to think about how much she has grown in less than a year!

Have a wonderful week! Enjoy a historical day tomorrow! Stay warm!

Look at Addie's cute sweater! Aunt Tiffany gave it to her for Christmas! You can tell in her eyes she wasn't feeling great. You can also tell how much her hair is growing in.

Nicknames for Addison

1. Addie--of course. Our daycare calls her "Addie Girl".

2. Punkin' or Pumpkin--and others relating to that Punkin' Head, Punkin' Butt, etc. Punkin' is probably the nickname I use the most.

3. Puppy--Jeremy's nickname for her.

4. Princess--Trust me, there are times when this is necessary! :) Lately she is beginning to show a little bit of her temper & strong will. She is started to throw some tantrums especially when she doesn't want to be changed. She is Miss Independent!

5. Peanut--Well, besides her being born a big baby, she has continued to be small for her age. She's our little peanut. I guess we have a thing for "P"s.

6. Turkey, Ham or Goose--If you couldn't already tell from some pictures or videos, this girl is full of life. She constantly makes us laugh because she is "hamming" it up and being a silly goose.

These are all the most common in our household. Of course we call her "Beautiful", "Baby Girl", "Little One" and others.

Thought we would give you a glimpse inside our house. :)

P.S. The website I use for the blog background template is temporarily unavailable so until then continue enjoying Christmas! :)

Happy New Year!

What a year we had! We have so much to be thankful for over the past year, especially the blessing of our daughter. Being parents gets better and better everyday! With so much tragedy in the world Jeremy and I are constantly reminded of God's blessings in our lives with family, friends, good health, having steady jobs, having each other and more.

I haven't made any resolutions, I never really do. I could always stand to work out more...well at all really. :) Anybody else with me? I have been doing a digital scrapbook for Addie (thanks to the suggestion of my friend Brooke) and my goal is to have Addie's first year done by her birthday and have it at her party. (It's hard to believe that we need to start thinking about that!) I have 6 pages done and haven't even finished the first month! Ah! After procrastinating on a baby book and/or scrapbook for 8 months I thought a digital scrapbook would be the way to go. Check out this online scrapbook website sometime.

New Year's Eve was low-key for us, just how we wanted it. We went over to John and Terrianne's house with three other couples and played the Wii. It was obvious of my lack of physical fitness when I got on the Wii Fit! We put Addie in a pack-n-play and she did pretty well. Around 12:30 she woke up (we were getting ready to leave anyway) because instead of the soft elevator music on the radio playing that we put her down to it was the "Crocodile Rock" ringing in the New Year. I think I would wake up too!

The rest of the weekend was a lot of organizing, resting, putting Christmas stuff up, etc. Our youth group had a lock-in on Friday so Jeremy and I went to the ice skating part and hung out for a bit. Jeremy and I went on a date on Saturday! Yahoo! We went to dinner and then to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Excellent movie! We never see movies so it was nice. Jeremy and I were in New Orleans two years ago and practically walked onto the set when they were filming a scene. We wanted to see if we made it in the film. Just joking! The scene they were shooting was in the movie though so that was pretty cool.

On Saturday Addie came down with a fever. Have you noticed a trend yet???? Two weeks healthy, one week sick. Geez! This time it didn't last very long and Addison only missed one day of daycare!

We look forward to 2009! Who knows what will happen?
