3 months old

Here is a video of Addison loving a pinwheel that her cousin Alex was showing her. She is 3 months old here! We are seeing more of her personality everyday. She is a happy baby most of the day. She smiles and laughs a lot, but she doesn't have much patience when she wants somethings, can be stubborn (definitely gets both of these from her dad! hee hee) and has a set of lungs on her (that one is from her mom!). Time has definitely flown by!

Update and trip to the lake

We visited Dr. O'Daniel, the plastic surgeon, almost two weeks ago. Basically it is kind of a "wait and see". He said that if he removed it right now it could grow back. They would have to put her to sleep to use a laser and put a shield over her eye to not damage it. He doesn't think that the hemangioma is obstructing her vision right now...which is good. However, it can and probably will continue to grow. It is doing no harm right now. We knew how common they were in children, but were surprised to learn that 1 out of 3 babies have birthmarks and 80% are hemangiomas. Most all grow up until 1 year old and then slowly decrease. 90% them go away by age 9. We are going back in 8 weeks to see how big it has gotten and to see if it is obstructing her vision and then re-evaluate it getting removed. We are thankful because I have heard and he also told us that some totally take over the face. Although we hate that she has this, we are pretty fortunate that this is the most we have to worry about right now. She is healthy and that is what matters most. We are going to take up-close pictures of it weekly to see if it is growing. We see her all the time so it is hard to tell. We'll keep you posted.

Memorial Day weekend Addison went to Lake Cumberland for the first time. This was the first trip of many more to come in her lifetime. Jeremy's mom and Randy have a houseboat at State Dock. We have so much fun as a family there. The weather was absolutely beautiful! Addie did really well despite cramped quarters and hot weather. She slept well and took good naps. I am sure the boat rocking helped out. Jeremy's mom and sister, Tiffany, watched her a lot while I went skiing and Jeremy went fishing. Jeremy and I went out on the jetski and on "The Bait Bucket", his run down fishing boat. Jeremy loves to fish, although he hasn't caught much in the past year or so. He is still optimistic even though I always tell him fishing is just luck. He tends to disagree when he reviews the Lake Cumberland fishing guide map. :) Addie got to meet her cousins Alex (age 10) and Kameryn (almost 6) for the first time. Kami loved holding her and was always helping out. She even wrote her a little poem. It was a wonderful weekend!

Hope you had a fabulous holiday weekend! Yeah for a short work week! I'll to post a cute video here shortly.

Getting big

Sorry, blog, for not writing more often. With me back at work things are hectic during the week. Please forgive me. :)

We enjoyed a Derby party at Jeremy's mom's house despite the tragic loss of a beautiful filly. Addie has done really well during the week. Anthony and Jenny, Jeremy's brother and fiancee, have watched her once a week the past two weeks and have really enjoyed themselves...so it seems. We are so thankful for their help. Our babysitter started this week. Kelly grew up at our church and is a college student now at the Univ. of Tennessee (we'll forgive her for that one). So far so good. I'm sure Addison and Kelly will love getting to know each other over the next month or so.

Last weekend Jeremy's cousin Allison got married. They had a wonderful wedding at a beautiful, small chapel and a reception on a yacht on the Ohio River. Leigh and Chad watched Addison for the night and Addie managed to spit up on Chad. Oops! Thanks so much for watching her, you two!

My first Mother's Day was nice. We went to church and then visited Jeremy's step-mom and dad. It was nasty weather outside so I got to do a whole lot of sleeping! It was great! Jeremy made a nice dinner and treated me to a massage since my shoulders and back seem to hurt a lot more nowadays since I cart around a 12 pounder a lot. I am hoping for some big biceps soon.

Please say some prayers for us. You may have noticed in some of the pictures that Addie has a red spot on her lower right eyelid. It is actually a hemangioma. It is basically a benign tumor of blood vessels that is very common in infants. It is kinda like a birthmark that is formed soon after birth. They usually get bigger over several months before eventually decreasing in size and going away (it can be years for that). Normally they aren't removed, but in Addie's case our pediatrician wants us to have it looked into since it is so close to her eye. At her one month appt. it looked more like a scratch and now it looks more like a bright red mole. Tomorrow we are going to a plastic surgeon for a consultation to see about having it removed (which will most likely happen) and to see how he will do it. Our pediatrician recommended Dr. O'Daniel, who sees lots of infants and children. Dr. O'Daniel actually did surgery on my nose for a deviated septum when I was in college. I really liked him. We will be sure to give you an update.

I need to upload more videos of Addison. She is smiling, laughing and cooing a lot and we love every minute of it! Enjoy all the pictures.

We think Addie is going to be a thumb sucker because she is putting her fists in her mouth a lot.

After church on Sunday. 11 weeks old

Ok, so this was too funny. This morning right after I fed Addie I had to put her in my boppy on the couch while I got a few things ready and Jeremy was making our lunches (yeah, he's a big help in the mornings). We walked back in a few seconds later and she looked like this watching the morning news! Just chillin' taking it all in. No more watching tv for her!

Talking to dad

My first attempt at uploading a video. This is from about 2 weeks ago. Addie was about 7 weeks old and really starting to "talk".
