Our Birthday Girl

It's hard to believe one year ago Addison Grace entered the world. Jeremy and I have had fun recalling memories of our first days with her. I can laugh now (not then!) back at some of the things: being in labor at home for so long, Addie screaming so loud that even the nurses commented on how loud she was, Addie being kicked out of the nursery the first night because she was waking up the other babies with her cry and more. We have been so blessed with such a wonderful daughter. We joke that the next baby we hope to have one day will be high maintenance and give us a run for our money. It's so exciting and sad all at the same time celebrating her first birthday. She has hit a milestone but we know there are so many more exciting milestones to come.

We had a party at daycare for her. We brought pizza for the kids for lunch and cupcakes for the party. It didn't last very long but it was very cute. Tonight Jeremy, Addie and I (and Sadie) celebrated with veggie soup & mac-n-cheese (some of her favorites), another cupcake (we let her DIG in this time), opened a few presents, a bath (another favorite) and reading her a new book (same author of her favorite book "Rainbow Rob"). Cousin Dylan called from Florida and sang "Happy Birthday to Baby Addie". Every phrase was this because David said if they sang "Happy Birthday to You" Dylan says "No, not me." :) We celebrate with family and close friends on Sunday. We can't wait!

I'll put up another post about our past weekend in Indy. It's been quite the week. I came down with a horrible case of strep throat and am still recovering. I'm glad I felt better tonight than I have the past couple of days to celebrate. It knocked me off my feet!

Enjoy the pictures below. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and for all your comments, thoughts, prayers, birthday wishes, cards and presents! We are truly blessed with a wonderful family and friends! Love to you all! Here's to another amazing year...

We think she won't be wearing a hat on Sunday. :) She cried!

Cheese!

Starting to dig in

"Yummy. I'm really starting to like this!"

"Want some dad?"

"How about you Sadie? This is good stuff!"

She was timid at first but she ended up digging in and eating about 3/4 of the cupcake!

Into the bath right away. Addie got to play with some new toys she got from Tara, Brad and Brady. She loved them.

And for the memories. A year ago today...sniff sniff.

Our turkey

Here is evidence of how our little one can be quite the ham! She constantly talks and "sings". She actually "sings" herself to sleep sometimes. More pictures and another video in the previous post.

Post V-Day

Well, it's official, we already need to keep an eye on our daughter. She got Valentine's cards from four boys at daycare! We're a little concerned. :) It was cute!

We hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day with loved ones. Jeremy and I got sushi and watched a movie Friday night. It was nice. On Saturday we went over to Blake and Tracy's and Derek and Jamie also came over. We made a nice dinner with fondue for dessert. Unfortunately we had to leave early because Miss Addison didn't want to go to bed there. The older she gets the more she is aware of her surroundings. She is such a social butterfly and I guess because she wasn't at home in her bed she thought she could stay up and play. We have no problems putting her to sleep at home. We lay her down between 7:30-8:00 awake and she goes down immediately. Not the case on Sat. night. We had to leave around 9:30 because she was still refusing to go to bed. We were disappointed but I guess this is what happens with parenthood sometimes.

On Sunday we went to my grandmother's retirement home for brunch after church. Addie was hamming it up for everyone there. Everyone was cracking up at her crawl. It is more like a three-legged scoot. This is her crawl and she goes fast!

I'll post more videos later. Have a great week! We're going to Indy this weekend for my friend Erin's bachelorette party. Jeremy and Addie are going to hang out with Brad and Brady when the girls go out that night. I can't wait to see some great friends!

This is one of Addie's favorite games...opening and closing doors.

Talking on the phone. She puts everything up to her ear and pretends to talk. She says "hi" and "bye" while doing it. I think she sees me doing this, not so much her dad.

Scrapbook

I mentioned this in a previous post, but I have been doing a digital scrapbook for Addie's babybook. I got a late start on it (umm...last Nov. when I had intentions to start one for her right after she was born), but so far I have done 15 pages. I am up to last August and hope to complete a lot more soon. My goal was to have her first year done for her birthday party. That doesn't look like that will happen because it takes about 10 days to get them once they are ordered.

Anyway, check out a few of my favorite pages I created. I got my first order in the mail the other night and I love them! It is so easy, cute, quick (that is key!) and pretty affordable! The website is www.howfastthewgrow.com. Enjoy!

Sledding!

Here are more pictures from Addie's first snow and first time sledding. I'll post later a recent video of Addie's favorite game. Enjoy this beautiful weather! We sure have!

Sledding down the "hill" (it's a golf course)

Just chillin'. We gave her Jeremy's sunglasses to put on because it was so bright. She didn't mind at all. It was pretty funny!

Even Sadie had to get in on the action. She loves the snow!

I just think this is too cute.

Catch up with pics

Here are pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Addie liked playing with the cat door at Uncle Anthony & Aunt Jenny's house

We didn't have Addie's sled with us when we first went to stay at Anthony & Jenny's so this was our make shift one. We took her sled out on Saturday and she seemed to like it. Of course our camera died right away. Jenny took pictures so hopefully I will get those soon.

First time in the snow. She was pretty indifferent.

"What is this white stuff?"

Look at the poor tree covered in ice!

She's getting ready for her birthday cake.

A short video in our make shift sled. :)

We've got the power!!!

The power came on Sunday when were at church. God was blessing us! :) Thanks for everyone calling and checking on us, offering warm beds to sleep, etc. There are still a lot of people without power in Louisville alone (around 80,000 still). It really was a matter of inconvenience for us. There are so many other people that are in much worse shape. Entire counties are without power and water. Please pray for these people!

We were happy to just relax on our couch last night and sleep in our bed. And we think Addie and Sadie were too. We want to thank Anthony and Jenny to putting up with us, a baby, a dog and all our stuff for 5 days. They probably thought we were moving our entire house at times. Everyday we would stop by our house to check on it, see if we had power and pick up more stuff.
Now we have the fun times of getting our house back together, cleaning out our fridge/freezer and replacing the food we lost. We were able to save some food because we took it over to Anthony & Jenny's. It is mostly condiments and such.

I promise I will upload pictures soon from the last couple of weeks. Hope you have a great, uneventful week! That is what we are hoping for.
