It's crazy that Addie is 2 and had her first haircut tonight. She really hasn't needed one I think mostly because her hair is curly. Her hair is hard to manage at times and I end up putting it in pigtails or a ponytail. The back of her hair sometimes looks like dreadlocks, especially when she wakes up in the morning! (Jeremy won't even comb her hair because it is so hard to comb and he doesn't want to hurt her!) I think it will always be hard to manage due to the curls, but we thought a trim might help with the frizz and craziness! :)
Addie did great!!! My friend Tracy cut her hair at her salon. I think it helped that Addie knew Tracy. I also think it helps that Addie can be a girly-girl and she just liked being pampered. :) She never made a peep. We didn't have to worry about suckers or her sitting on my lap or anything. She was quiet, really curious and just kept looking in the mirror.
A little bit of a before picture. You can tell that it is getting long in the back. Addie was checking out her Noah's Ark cover most of the time. I told Tracy I hope to still put it in a ponytail and please don't let her lose her curls!
She looked like such a big girl in the chair!
She didn't smile much because she was very into what Tracy was doing.
After the cut...trimmed up and still cute curls! I need to take an after picture with her hair dry.
She is so grown up!!!
P.S. Another post below with lots of pics! Finally caught up on the blog! Yahoo!

SUNNY May Days!
After all of the gloomy, rainy, cool days we have had this month we have been soaking up the sun lately. I was beginning to think I was getting seasonal affective disorder in May! Now it feels more like July, but I am not going to complain because at least the sun has been out! Here's what we have been up to when the sun has showed up!
Two Fridays ago we had one of the first sunny days in a long time. We spontaneously called up Leigh and Chad and met them at the Comfy Cow--a very cute little ice cream parlor in Westport Village.
Is this girl not in heaven or what? Digging ice cream out of a cone with her finger! Yep, sure wish I would have brought a bib with us.
She loves her "aunt" eee!
And here is one Addie tried taking herself... :)
That following Saturday morning our church's farmer's market opened for the year! We love it! It is the biggest in Louisville and has so many wonderful vendors. They also have live music there. Here Addie is putting her hands in the air like a tree. The video below is her dancing along to the music (while eating a muffin).
At a cookout with friends. What a ham!
Thanks, Brooke, for my cute antique pillowcase dress!
Jeremy and I had a wonderful date last Friday night! We went to Z's Fusion downtown to eat (yummy!) and then to Wicked. I got free tickets through my work! Addie stayed the night at her grandparents' house so we got to sleep in! Sleeping in was 8:30. :) I used to be able to sleep until 11 or so when I was in high school. My things are different. That morning I got flowers and we did yard work until she got back. She then "helped" us in the yard. Here Addie is posing after church in front of the flowers she helped with.
And finally...Happy Birthday, Dylan! Our nephew turned 4 today. Hard to believe! It seems like yesterday the little bug was in the NICU! Addie calls Dylan "Dee Dee" for some reason. She did great singing her favorite song to him on the phone tonight. They are visiting next week and we can't wait!
Friday night Jeremy's younger brother, Justin, is getting married! We are looking forward to the festivities! We are going to the Lake on Saturday morning for a family weekend. Busy, busy! Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Mother's Day Weekend
We had a great Mother's Day weekend! My mom came in town on Friday night so it was nice to spend time with her that evening and Saturday morning. We went to a Mother's Day brunch at a nice place called Science Hill with my aunt, cousin and grandmother. We surprised my grandmother because she didn't know my mom was in town and we were coming. I barely got to talk with them during the brunch because the whole two-year-old in a formal dining room doesn't go over so well! :)
Posing outside while everyone else ate. Ha!
Four Generations!
My friend Robyn is expecting a baby girl in August. We went to a couples' shower for Robyn and Shane on Sat. evening. The four of us have been friends since high school (and before). Things have definitely changed since then! This is the best picture I had from the evening with all of the little ones.
Laura & Dane, Me & Addison, Robyn & her baby girl in her belly, Liz & Emma
Jeremy and Addie left to go to a Bats baseball game while I stayed at the shower. They went with Jeremy's dad's side of the family to celebrate his dad's birthday. It was so cold that Addie wore her coat. Geez! She loved her first baseball game! And I think she liked the food even more. Gotta love the grandparents...hot dogs, cotton candy, etc! Unfortunately Jeremy didn't take the camera with him. :(
On Mother's Day we went to church in the morning. I had to take a picture of little miss after church. I love summer dresses for girls!
After church we headed to the zoo and had a picnic there. It was a little cool at first, but it we had a wonderful time as our little family! Addie did great this time! No turtle scares. Ha! Actually she loved the snakes this time.
She did get a little timid being this close to the orangutan.
Taking a break to play at the playground
She went around and pet every goat in the petting area
Posing on the rhino statue
Posing outside while everyone else ate. Ha!

After the zoo I got to take a little nap and then we spent some time with Jeremy's family. Addie made me the cutest little card and brought me home a goodie basket from daycare. She brought me home flowers from daycare, but she dropped them out the window on the way home before I even saw them! Ha! Jeremy said she wouldn't stop crying! Jeremy got me a giftcard to get some flowers for the front yard. Now it needs to get warmer! The best gift I got was spending time together as the three of us and getting to spend time with my mom since I don't see her too often.
Before I was even pregnant I knew that I wanted to be a mother one day. I never knew then that I would LOVE being a mom so much! I am fortunate to be able to experience motherhood. I know that some women don't get this wonderful experience and that makes me so sad. I think Mother's Day is about celebrating all of the women that have had an influence on our lives. I try to count my blessings everyday and being a mother to this sweet girl, having a wonderful husband and having a great family and friends are at the top of my list. Yes, there are days that wear me out when little miss decides to throw tantrums or hits or throws food, but getting a sweet kiss or hug or seeing her sweet smile makes everything in the world seem right!
I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating the women in your life! Happy Mother's Day!

Derby festivities continued...
On Thursday of Derby week we went to the Pegasus Parade. The weather was perfect and Addie loved it! She cried when we left. It's kinda becoming a trend...the whole crying when we leave somewhere that she loves. Fun times!
Watching on daddy's shoulders
Derby morning...While Jeremy and I were cleaning this is what Addie was busy doing. Just a typical morning in our house. She no longer hates her tutu! Can you tell?
Unfortunately it rained and stormed almost the entire day on Derby so our Derby party got moved inside. I forgot to take pictures, but we enjoyed mint juleps and Derby pie! Calvin Borel won again. He is one amazing jockey! If you have never been to the Derby or been to Louisville during Derby week, you should! So fun!
I bought this outfit last year at TJ Maxx. Leigh thought it looked like a cute Derby outfit so she wore it Sunday to church. She kept asking people, "Like my bow?" and show her tummy as she pulled up her shirt. That Saturday she asked a friend, "Do you like my outfit?" I hope this girl isn't all about clothes because we'll be in big trouble later on in life!
I think she looks so old here! :(
Next post coming up...Mother's Day weekend! Happy Friday!

All about Addie--2 year (and then some) update
I thought I would update you (and really me since this blog kinda serves as a scrapbook/reference point/etc.) about little Miss Addie since I didn't ever do it when she turned two.
At her two year appt. she weighed 24 lbs. 3 oz. (25%) and was 34.5 inches tall (40%). She actually jumped in the percentile from 10% to 25% in weight for the first time in a while, but she is still our little peanut.
Some of her favorite things include:
All things related to "baby" (rocking, walking her in the stroller, feeding her, etc.). And over the past few weeks "baby" finally has a name...Paula. We have no clue where she picked up this name because we don't know any Paulas. At daycare they did say one of the nannies to one of the kids is named Paula. Too funny.
Loves to sing! Her favorites include Wheels on the Bus, Happy Birthday (like I said before she sings this daily), the Elmo song (the intro to Elmo's World), ABC's (I'll post a video of her singing this soon), Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands. She now really wants to sing songs by herself and doesn't want me to sing with her. She wants a solo. Ha! Lately when we leave church she doesn't want to leave because she says "I wanna sing!"
Loves to be outdoors! She loves to play with bubbles, play on the playground, take walks, etc.
Loves to play "sleepy"! Whether it is Sadie, her baby, Jeremy or I she wants us to lay flat, she then lays the blanket over us, pats our backs and says "shhhhh".
Loves to color!
Loves to talk about animals! She lists all the animals she "likes"..."I like turtles. I like birds. I like doggies..." and so on.
Loves to read!
Loves to play on the piano and to dance!
She loves to learn! It is amazing to see her develop everyday. She talks so much! Yesterday it was non-stop. You can't always understand her, but we get the point. Who knows how many words she can say? She can count to ten in English and almost to 20 (sometimes missing a few). She can count to ten in Spanish (and knows a few other numbers) and knows several Spanish words. She has a Spanish teacher at her daycare that she really likes. She knows lots of colors and shapes.
Some challenges:
Just like any two-year-old she has got a whole other side to her that can be quite challenging! I don't always blog about this. She isn't sweet and cute all the time...imagine that! :)
She throws some really good tantrums! It is not funny at the time, but man, she can be so dramatic.
She has been hitting us lately and throwing things. She was put in "quiet time" three times in a row during lunch on Sunday because she kept throwing her food.
She has such a desire for independence and such a strong-will! We are trying to give her choices like giving her a couple of outfits to choose from to wear, letting her put her shoes on by herself, etc. I think this helps a little with her having some independence, but it definitely teaches us patience!
She has become a picky-eater! She ate anything when she was a baby and into her second year of life and now it is hard to know what to expect. She will like one thing one day and the next not even touch it. She loves carbs and sweets, but of course that is not all that she is getting. We get many tears at the dinner table at our house. Ugh.
We're still potty-training! Since she started using the potty in October at 20-months-old I thought she would be trained by now. Just like other things in life, things don't always go as planned or the way you expected them to go. She is still doing really well! She basically uses the potty all day at daycare, but isn't always consistent at home. We tried letting her be in her underwear all day at daycare for a couple of days, but she wasn't ready because she didn't always tell them in time she needed to go and had lots of accidents. One day at daycare she did go all day in her underwear, but then the next morning she didn't want to go at the house. Ugh. She did go to church the other evening with underwear on so we are making progress. I know that she is still young and it will happen when she is ready, but can still be frustrating. Enough of that!
Although some days can be quite challenging, we LOVE this girl so much and LOVE being parents! Below are random pictures throughout the past couple of months that I haven't posted yet.
Silly girl or diva? You decide. Eating cereal with her sunglasses on.
Don't worry, she is not all girl. Addie likes to go out in the garage/Jeremy's shop to work with daddy. A future little carpenter on our hands...
Monkey see, monkey do...This was before the park one day where she had to have a purse and sunglasses on her head, just like mom.
Here is Addie on Palm Sunday with her palms
We went to Sesame Street Live. I got free tickets through my work. Addie loved it!
Addie dancing along...
We sat with Emma, Peter and Heather at the show and then went to dinner together afterwards. These girls LOVE each other!
We visited my grandmother after church one Sunday. It is hard to entertain a two-year old in a formal dining room, that is for sure!
A couple of weekends ago we went out to Jeremy's dad and stepmom's house for the evening. They have a lot of land. We played outside, went fishing for a little bit, rode 4-wheelers, checked out the cows, etc. Nothing like the country. :) Here is Jeremy showing Layton how to use a fishing pole.
Fishing with dad. Addie was more interested in all of the frogs and pouring out the dirt and worms from the container. She cried when we left the pond because she didn't want to leave.
Hope you enjoyed learning more about our girl. Have a great week!
