Miss Independent

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. We've been really busy and little Miss got another ear infection. We kept thinking it was her 12 month molars and finally decided to take her to the doc. Low and behold, another one. Poor thing! I knew our daughter was strong-willed, but even the doctor commented on it when he was TRYING to check her out. He told me that she reminded him of his second son. He said the strong will can be tough sometimes, but when she wants something later in life she'll go for it and be very driven. We'll see.

Addie started taking steps a couple of weeks ago. She can go about 5 steps but has fun just falling and us catching her on the way down. We think she can walk since she moves around so well but just doesn't want to because she can get around fine by her crawl/scoot. Sometimes she likes to take steps between us and other times she refuses to even lock her legs to stand up. Times like these remind us that she is strong-willed, independent and will do things when she wants to do them. We chase around her enough without her walking. We're in no hurry.

Jeremy did some work for his Great Aunt Sharon's deck and house. She had a cookout last Thursday to celebrate the finished product. My friend from work, Jason, let me take home his really nice camera for the night to play with. Umm, Jeremy needs to do some more work for his side business because I want one of those cameras. :) Addie had fun playing outside and partaking in some good food. Enjoy!

I'll post more pics soon from our weekend at the lake. Happy hump day!

Her face was breaking out from allergies which we think caused the ear infection.

I had to get a picture of her cute little legs

Daddy's girl

We had ribs for dinner. How do you think she liked them?

Miss Independent (I think a common trait of toddlers) wouldn't let me or Jeremy feed her from our laps. She wanted to use the spoon herself. She eventually just used her hands for the mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese. Can we say MESSY?

Short and sweet

After last night's longest post ever (see below) I thought I would keep things short and sweet. Below is a video from the Science Center. Our girl may not be walking yet, but she sure can dance!

Updates aka LOTS OF PICTURES!

So much to update over the past couple of weeks. Hope you have a minute to sit down, relax and enjoy the updates.

We had a playdate with Andrew from our church. Here Andrew is feeding Addison some dessert. Yummy!

So cute!

On Oaks Day (the day before the Derby where the fillies (female horses) race) we had a cook out with our Sunday School class at the park. The weather held off for most of it. One of Addie's favorite words is "duck" so she was excited to see the real deal at the park and decided to chase after them with her scoot.

Playing on the playground.

For Derby we went over to Jeremy's dad to celebrate his birthday and watch the Derby. Addie had fun playing with all of the beanie babies.

We are in the processing of building built-ins for our entertainment center. Well, Jeremy is building and I help paint. Addie thinks she is a big helper. I'll post pictures of the final product, whenever it is well, final. Speaking of my talented husband, Jeremy recently started a blog of his own to post pictures of his work. Check it out sometime http://www.jeremyabwork.blogspot.com/. Hopefully he'll put up more pictures soon. He is so talented and amazing! Yes, he joined Facebook and started a blog in a matter of about a month. The world might be ending soon! Hee Hee. :) Maybe he'll actually do a post on here now that he knows how to operate the blog. We shall see...:)

David, Carrie and Dylan came in town for a long weekend. My parents were in on Friday (wished it was longer, but my mom had to work on Saturday). We went to the Louisville Science Center where they have a Kidszone. Dylan and Addie enjoyed playing on the bus, driving an airplane, doing construction and more.

D-man driving the bus.

In the space ship. "Um, I know you are my uncle that I don't see much, but what is that on your head?"--Addie

Trying to get them to pose with their construction gear.

This part was the water zone to teach kids about water currents. Addie thought it was basically bath time. Needless to say her entire shirt was drenched and we had to borrow an extra one of Dylan's for a bit.

An art project

Wrestling with Dylan. Apparently she tries to wrestle some of the older boys at daycare. They also reported to us last week that she kept trying to kiss another boy all day. Jeremy can tackle that one in the future! Ha! :)

I'm sure this isn't the last time we will see this.

Dylan will turn 3 at the end of the month so we celebrated on Friday with our family.

On Saturday we went to a graduation open house at the Browns in honor of our good friend, Chad (Leigh's boyfriend and our "photographer"). Maddy and Addie had fun on her playground. I should have videotaped this. Addie would "talk" at the top of her lungs while going up the steps like she was trying to say "everyone look at me" and then laugh while she went down the slide. So fun!

Maddy and Addie were then entertained by the beer bucket. Lovely picture, huh?

So funny!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! It helped that we had beautiful weather. Louisville has not had many sunny days lately. We went to church, went to Jeremy's mom's house for a bit, took a long nap when Addie napped, met Dylan, David and Carrie at the park and then out to dinner with them before they headed back to Florida (boo hoo). Jeremy and Addie :) gave me some yummy lotions and some flowers to plant in the yard. The day was more about being together as a family.

Here's our ham putting a bucket over her head.

Family picture Mother's Day afternoon (the sun was in our eyes a bit)

I couldn't resist buying this dress. This one is for all my DG sisters! Anchors Away!

"Walking" with Honey. She is scared to let go.

Photo-op before we had to say goodbye. :(
On the way home Jeremy said, "I love our family...the three of us." And I couldn't agree more. Motherhood can be exhausting and frustrating, but it is the best thing I have ever experienced in my life. It's hard to remember life before Addison was born and it keeps getting better!

How could I not love being a mom to this girl???!!!

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there. You are all beautiful, strong women!

A visit from da bug

David, Carrie and Dylan (aka da bug) came in for a quick trip two weekends ago because Carrie's uncle passed away. Jeremy and I watched Dylan for a while so they could go to the funeral home. Addie was already down at the lake (we came later that night) so it felt a little weird being with Dylan and not having her with us. Dylan didn't quite understand why she wasn't with us. We had fun with him at the park and at our house. D-man loves Jeremy and does everything he does. He is so good and so much fun!

David, Carrie and Dylan are coming this weekend (they had this planned a while ago) for a visit! We're looking forward to spending time together as a family!

Feeding the ducks

Taking a walk in the park

Playing on the playground

Fishing on the couch. At one point Dylan caught two fish and Jeremy couldn't get a single bite! :)

And here's a few pics of the wild girl playing with Sadie from about a week or so ago. Have I ever mentioned she loves Sadie and tries to wrestle her all the time?

I'll try to post again with pics from last weekend. We had a great Derby weekend! I just love it when a long shot wins! If you don't watch the derby than you should. So exciting! And if you ever want to come to Louisville during all the festivities give us a call.

Have a great weekend!

First trip to the Lake '09

Jeremy's birthday is today (Monday) so we went to the lake this weekend so he could fish. Addie went down on Thursday with Honey and Papaw and Jeremy and I got down there late Friday night. It was really warm so it was nice to be out in bathing suits on top of the houseboat (although I didn't enjoy getting my bright white body in a bathing suit). It was very windy so unfortunately Jeremy didn't fish much on the fishing boat.

Addie went to the houseboat a couple of times last year. This time she got to take her first speed boat ride in the Baja. Don't worry we didn't go too fast and there weren't many boats on the water. She did really well! She didn't care for the life jacket at first. I thought she would have a meltdown. She was pretty indifferent most of the time, but I have a feeling she'll like it more and more everytime. Enjoy the pictures from the weekend!

Today I stayed home from work because Addie has tonsillitis. :( She was not well last night, but has gotten better throughout the day today. Before bed she was chasing Jeremy down the hall with a bucket on her head. I'd say she is feeling much better.

Happy birthday, Jeremy! You are such a wonderful husband and amazing father. No wonder Addie is a daddy's girl right now! I love you!

Photo with cousin Layton. Isn't he so stinkin' cute?

Looking for fish with Honey (in her cute outfit from Aunt Jenny)

Jenny and Layton. Layton had to borrow Addie's hat. I don't think it fit very well, but it did cover his mug.

Pointing at another houseboat.

Addie is starting to really give kisses. It's cute! Although this time she bit my lip and those little baby teeth hurt!

Such personality!

The whole gang enjoying the summer-like weather in April!

See, she evens gives her new baby cousin kisses (as long as he is not getting all of the attention. We saw the first glimpse of jealousy from her this weekend.).

Addie got really hot around 5:00 and decided to drink water from the bottle. She ended up dumping most of the water on herself and Jeremy.

Cooling off in the baby pool on the top of the boat

Getting ready for her first boat ride

First boat ride in the Baja. Many more to come...

Easter on Thursday :)

On Sunday we didn't get a chance to take pictures outside in Addie's Easter dress. So, I reenacted today. Whatever it takes for a photo opp for a potential framed photo or one for the scrapbook. I could have lied and just said I took them on Sunday, but I knew you blog readers wouldn't care when these were taken! :) Enjoy!
