Christmas Eve

Kate was feeling much better by Christmas Eve and no longer had a fever so we were very happy to go to church together and to Jeremy's aunt's house.  I was so disappointed when she was first diagnosed because I thought we wouldn't be able to do any Christmas Eve festivities.  We usually go to Leigh's mom's house for an open house on Christmas Eve, but didn't want to risk it with Reb being very little so we didn't go.  We did sit next to them at church.  I didn't even touch Reb just in case I had germs on me.  It was so hard not to love on her!

Sarah and Kate after the service.

The Turner family.  Love!

Our family after the service.  My favorite part of Christmas that brings everything into perspective is singing "Silent Night" by candlelight.  We had the girls with us during the song for the end of the service.  Addie loved singing along and Kate was fascinated by the candles.  It is a perfect way to celebrate the Christ child.

Right after the service we went to Jeremy's Aunt Patti's house.  She loves children and is always planning fun things for them.  She had all of the kids sit down and talked to them about Santa coming that night.

She cut up apples for the reindeer.

And then we all went outside to throw the reindeer food in the yard.

At that point Aunt Patti thought she saw and heard Santa's reindeer.  (Video to come.)

And within minutes Santa (Jeremy's cousin Brad this year...hee hee) made an appearance and had a small gift for each child.  Love this picture.

And this one too. :)

Santa also brought some presents for some of the adults, although some of them are inappropriate to post on the blog thanks to Jenny and Jen.  Ha!

All of the young kids draw names for a gift exchange.  Kate got a doll.

Addie got a different gift, but had fun playing with the whoopie cushion. :)

Kate with Papaw.

We then came home, read books, put cookies, milk & carrots out and put the kids to bed so Santa to could come.  And then mom and dad stayed up late getting things ready for Christmas morning/day.

Christmas #3

The Sunday before Christmas we went over to Betty (Jeremy's mom) and Randy's house to celebrate Christmas.  My parents watched Kate for us since she still had some symptoms and we knew little ones would be there too (Randy's daughter's son is 11 months).  They had been around Kate the day before she was diagnosed so they figured they were already exposed to the flu.  (Thankfully no one did get it!)

This was Kate that morning (taken with Jeremy's iphone).  She brought me her hat and sweater to put on her.  I think she was ready to get outside instead of being cooped up inside. :)

At Betty and Randy's we had dinner and then let the kids open presents.

Addie was excited to get a V-Tech laptop.  She really likes to play with it at home.

And then the adults did the annual Dirty Santa/White Elephant gift exchange.  Jeremy opened this lovely tree that had ornaments for every holiday throughout the year.

That was stolen from him and he managed to grab another gift that Justin and Cristina brought...another lovely Christmas decoration.  He's cracking up here. :)

Cristina and her llama?  Or is it an alpaca?  :)  Justin and Cristina are expecting baby girl in the spring.  We're excited!

We decided to play a joke on Betty and hid all of the ugly gifts we got throughout her house.  She found them all that night and the next day.  It was a fun evening.

Christmas pageant and Christmas #2

Still working through many Christmas posts.

Our "niece" got dedicated at Beargrass in mid-December.  Here is Leigh, her mom and baby Reb.  Love this photo.

Leigh, Terrianne and I grew up together at church.  Now our little ones are growing up together.  4 kiddos and one on the way!

Reb was perfect during the dedication part.  So sweet!

It was also the annual children's Christmas pageant that morning.  Addie was a star again.  No really, she was literally a star. :)

And this is our oldest being silly.  Hanging out under a chair in the foyer.

The weekend before Christmas Kate tested positive for the flu.  Needless to say it was a rough few days.  A lot of our plans changed and she definitely felt crummy off and on for several days.  Thankfully she rallied by Christmas Eve.  My mom said, "It won't be the last time you have a kid sick during the holidays. I spent many days at the doctor's office or immediate care on holidays with you kids."  Hopefully they are few and far between because it was no fun.

The day Kate started coming down with symptoms the kids went over to Grammy and Grandpa's house to make gingerbread cookies.  Kate didn't touch any of these cookies. :)

The Saturday before Christmas my aunt and uncle came in town from West Virginia for the day.  Unfortunately my cousin Bill and his wife weren't able to make the trip this year.  Jeremy stayed back with Kate while Addie and I headed over to David and Carrie's house.

My Uncle Phil and Aunt Cathy like to get lots of "fun" gifts for the kids like this princess tent...

And head flashlights...

Jeremy was actually excited that Addie got one of these because he uses one camping and fishing. :)

She's got the innocent face down, doesn't she?

The boys  playing with some new legos.

The kids were running out with their new flashlights with the lights off upstairs.  It looked like police were attacking.  Ha!

It was a fun night spending time with family we don't see often, although it was a little different with some family members missing.

More to come...

Sing and shake those hips

I am testing to see if this video works on the blog.  Here are two videos from the daycare party.  I told you Kate could shake her hips and shoulders! :)

Christmas #1

We have marathon Christmases due to different family functions (I'm sure other people can relate).  We had Jeremy's dad's Christmas a couple weekends before Christmas since Tiffany, Dave and the girls were going to be in town. The cousins love to spend time together.

We had dinner and then watched a bit of a movie while we waited for Anthony to get off work.

All the presents before unwrapping.

Don't let this picture mislead you.  Every once in a while she acts like an angel. :) Annette likes to have different hats and such for everyone to wear.

 Family photo time.

Love Kate's face here

This photo cracks me up.  Studying the toy catalog.

Papaw likes to read "The Night Before Christmas" before opening presents.

Kate getting the good stuff out of her stocking. :)

I think Abigail's favorite present was Skittles from her stocking.

Kate loves jewelry.

Everyone checking out their stockings.

Kameryn LOVES One Direction.

Aunt Tiffany made these for the girls: Kate, Abigail and Addie.  Too cute!

If you asked Addie what she wanted for Christmas it would constantly change (typical for her age I suppose). The one thing Addie said for over a week was mini bunk beds with little babies.  She saw it in a toy catalog and told Mamaw.  She was sooo excited to get them.  We told her there was no reason for Santa to come because she already got what she wanted.  Yeah right!

Thanks Mamaw and Papaw!  You love to spoil us.
