Florida: Day 1-3

We were so sad to see our vacation end, but it was a week full of lots of great memories! It wasn't the most restful vacation with two young kiddos, but I would rather do that type of "work" any day of the week.  We went to Destin with Jeremy's dad and step-mom, their best friends, two of Jeremy's aunts and a great aunt.  There were lots of people, but it is a pretty spacious condo.  John got the condo through his boss at work and we were so thankful we were able to make the trip.  It is a beautiful condo right on the beach and on the first floor.   I took so many pictures so I thought I would break up the pictures from throughout the week.

We left at 5:00 a.m. to make the drive down.  Clearly Addison was excited because she slept a total of 45 minutes the entire trip.  Kate started really walking the day before we left (hooray!) so she clearly didn't want to spend any time in a carseat.  It took us 11 hours and needless to say we were ready to get out of the car!  We dropped our stuff off at the condo and let the girls play on the beach for about an hour before grabbing dinner.

Kate really liked the beach.  She crawled through the sand like a bulldozer from day one. I'll post videos soon.  She was a little scared of the water at first, especially the noise when the waves crashed, but by the end of the week the ocean was calmer and she got used to it.

At one point Addie just laid down on her new princess beach towel to "relax".  It lasted about a minute.  Ha!

A nice woman on the beach gave Addie a kite.  So sweet!

The next morning the girls had Krispy Kreme for breakfast.  It is a tradition with John and Annette and we must wear the hats with them.  There was more than one pick-up from Krispy Kreme during the week resulting in Addie having a chocolate doughnut just about everyday.  Yikes!  I guess that is what vacation is all about. :)


That day we had a nice day on the beach and at the pool.  We all went out to eat for dinner by the harbor.  We walked around the harbor before and after eating dinner.  Addie met a pirate.  She was a little hesitant at first, but she took her picture with "Captain Jack" (and I would say Captain Jack liked his Captain Jack...Ha!)  She asked him if he was a real pirate. :)  He made her a sword out of a balloon and then we walked along the harbor for a bit.

We saw a lot of this during the week...Kate starting to walk away from us.  :)  And you can see her curls coming in in the back of her head.

The next day we were able to be outside for a bit, but it rained non-stop most of the afternoon, evening and through the night.  We took big naps, ran some errands, went to a bookstore, made dinner and laid low that evening. The girls were entertained for a while by "cleaning" the windows. :)
